Very good book!

After reading this book, I have found it to be very good. Although this book may seem simplistic, it gets its point across. This book is not meant to be a dissertation on the spiritual growth of a Christian, but rather a quick help guide. Things don't have to be complex in order to make a point. Jesus even said his teachings could be understood by children before adults. If you have ever been in a theological library you would soon find out you are feeding your intellectual life and not your spiritual life. This book does not claim to be a future theological masterpiece to collect dust on a bookshelf somewhere, but rather, as a short and simple guide to help a person connect to God under the salvific blood of Christ. So if you want deep intellectual reading, find another book, but if you want a simple how-to guide to learn how to make your practical Christian life more spiritually pleasing, buy this book. By the way things look, you could pick up a used one for 35 cents or so, a small price to pay for easy Christian help.

For the Christian that is willing to see things for what they really are.

I love this book. This book shows different ways in which the enemy will attack the Christian. I used to think I was terrible because curse words and images of porn would pop into my head while praying. It is a direct attack from the enemy on a new Christians prayer life. I notice a lot of people are giving this book low ratings. Take that as a sign that this is the real deal. The enemy will only attack things that are a real threat to himself and the souls he is trying to devour. I would like to buy one for each member of my family. As for the people upset about the "attacks" on Catholicism, the bible says to "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.-1 Thessalonians 5:21. Ask the Pope what happened to the 2nd commandment which is listed in Exodus 20:4, 20:23, 34:17; Leviticus 19:4, 26:1; Dueteronomy 4:23, 5:8; 1 Corinthians 10:7,10:14 and 1 John 5:21.

The Next Step for Growing Christians is a small easy-to-read book written to encourage newly saved Christians to grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. The book consists of eight chapters, with each chapter presenting a different lesson for the Christian. I've heard of different ministries offering their own material to newly saved Christians; however, in my opinion, this is the book you should buy. The Next Step is a valuable asset for any Christian looking to grow in their relationship with the Lord. I personally believe every Christian should buy this book. My only regret is not buying it sooner.

An assassin has one rule: kill or be killed

In a universe in which so many evil people get away with murder, literally, and many times much more than that, the existence of assassins who kill bad people is a fantasy of mine.

It may have started in the early 1960s with Jack Ritchie’s short-story “For All the Rude People” in which the narrator is diagnosed with a terminal illness and finds himself responding to instances of rudeness with deadly force. This sets loose a host of copycats, causing an outbreak of politeness in the town.

Akin to Eisler’s John Rain, The late Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp, Ludlum’s Jason Bourne, Andrew Peterson’s Nathan McBride, John Gilstrap's Jonathan Grave, Marc Cameron's Jericho Quinn, Mark Greaney's The Gray Man, comes Tom Wood’s Victor The Assassin.

Supposedly all these assassins are cold hearted, calculated, merciless, and can kill without hesitation. Yet, they don’t kill without reason, don’t kill women or children (exceptions exist but always warranted), and try to protect the innocent. They get very upset by and try to prevent collateral damage.

Well, Victor is prototypical of them all. He is detail oriented, observes everything in his environment like John Rain, is a master of hand-to-hand combat, is willing to go brazenly into the lion’s den, has no problems with improvising, can shoot the legs of a fly in flight and… well, you get the gist of it… he is almost superhuman, yet he keeps his humanity. In “The Game” the third of the series [following The Hunter (The Killer) and The Enemy], Victor walks into a deadly situation willingly and uses his deductive skills to assess the situation impeccably, although he has little information and no help from anyone. Tom Wood writes well, better than most in this genre, paints characters and the environment in vivid colors so much so that one feels like watching a movie. If you are just little bit bloodthirsty and dream about the world’s villains getting their comeuppance, you will love this book. If you are squeamish, you need to return to your Barbara Cartland bodice-rippers, as The Game causes a different type of goose pimples altogether.

My only complaint is that now I will have to wait until the next book to continue with my reading pleasure.

Extremely entertaining and hard to put down!

Tom Wood is the author of The Game. Other books from Mr. Wood are The Hunter (aka The Killer) and The Enemy.

Victor is an assassin. He is so good at his job that he is hired to take out another assassin (Mr. Kooi) when the need arises. After Victor completes this job he is contacted by the CIA, they would like Victor’s help. They need to know who Kooi’s next target is and they want Victor to be the one who figures it out. How is Victor going to find out this information? Easy…he is going to become Mr. Kooi. Victor immerses himself in Kooi’s world and quickly finds himself surrounded by a ruthless team of men, each with their own part to play and none willing to share what exactly Kooi’s part is going to be. Once Victor is finally informed of the nefarious plot it should be easy enough for him to walk away. Unfortunately, there is one more surprise that Victor wasn’t counting on.

Reading this book is like watching a Jason Bourne movie and being able to hear everything that Bourne is thinking during his action packed adventures. Not just watching him take out a room full of bad guys but knowing his exact thoughts as to how he is going to do it and why. The Game is extremely entertaining and hard to put down once you get started. Even though Victor is an assassin he immediately becomes likable and the more you read the more you realize he is truly one of the best “bad guys” out there. This is the first “Victor” book I have read and I intend to quickly get copies of the others and catch up on more Victor filled adventures.

Been worth waiting for!

Victor finally finds equivalence to his lethally superior skills and encounters an assignment which stretches him to seemingly infinite borders of his abilities almost putting him in a killing zone. Action? Yes! Victor's detachment from emotions? Absolutely! Intrinsic details to see mission to the end? Certainly!
An extremely enticing cocktail of cool minded planning along with headlong actions are something I can't help being addicted to. Along with Tom Wood's unique ability to depict palpable danger and unprecedentedly deep understanding of fear, Victor's character exudes "ever yota of his lethality" just staring in enemy's eyes. Five stars, not a doubt about rating down!
