Firt read the prequel

I've read the author's other books in hard copy (except for the Hollow Reed series, available as an e-book). Finding a prequel was like discovering a hidden treasure. You don't need to ahve read Parker's other books to enjoy this thoroughly and I strongly recommend it., Well-written, good plot, believable characters.

A decent *short* story

The storyline is fine, but lacks depth and reasoning, and the ending comes sudden and feels like it should continue. If you're really hooked to the Akitada series I guess you will want to read it no matter what, but otherwise I don't feel it's really worth the price.

Nice introduction

We're delighted to have more Akitada Stories. This may have been the first, but we had already read six of the novels. So it was refreshing to see how it all began. I have visited Kyoto and am familiar with the setting for the mysteries. I have also seen many of Kurosawa's movies and able to imagine the costuming. This particular story is clearly an introduction to the characters that people the subsequent novels. Ms Parker does an excellent job of describing the locale. The story moves along quickly, holding the reader's interest. I recommend the book as a mystery and for its medieval Japanese setting.

Already made a difference

I am in my late thirties and have struggled all my life with terrible handwriting. I recently started using this book to practice. The improvement has been dramatic even only after a week; my wife is simply shocked. I can't wait to visit my parents and show them how much I've improved.

One minor complaint is that this particular edition contains both an italic script as well as a full cursive; most students will probably only want to study one or the other. Another minor complaint is that I would have liked to see more of an explanation about when the italic letters should be joined or written separately.

Despite those small critiques, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their handwriting.

Not what I expected for printing practice, but good for cursive

I purchased this to improve my printing. I am not interested in cursive at this time. I didn't realize the guide focuses on an italic printing, which joins some of the characters together. In my mind, it looks more like a drawn out, print/cursive mix, and I didn't care for how it looks. I also didn't like that it doesn't offer any other character sets to emulate, which locks you into the only one presented in the book.

If you are more interested in working on cursive, I think the guide would be a good choice, as it seems to focus more on that style of writing, and offers more practice sessions for cursive than it did for printing.

I worked through a few days worth of practice, and finally set it aside. I ended up searching for other print character sets to emulate, and opted for an "Antiquarian Scribe" map font, although I tweaked a few characters that I didn't like (e.g., Q, f, etc.)

This product encourages self growth and it actually works. In the short amount of time I have used it, I have seen tremendous improvement not only in my writing but in my self-esteem too. Everyone who has writing difficulties should order this product immediately!

Folk hero to 1960s student activists, community organizer Saul Alinsky (1909-1972) believed that citizenship meant participation and a questioning attitude toward authority. Raised in a Chicago slum by Russian-Jewish parents, he started out as a criminologist working with imprisoned mobsters and teenage gangs. Organizing a neighborhood council in Chicago's stockyard transformed him into a social activist. In this solid biography, Horwitt, a political consultant to advocacy groups, limns two sides of Alinsky: the self-promoter and fundraiser with elitist connections, and the populist who was adept at rallying apathetic, demoralized people against racism, slum landlords, poverty and unresponsive institutions. Alinsky's personal tragedies--his first wife drowned, his second wife had multiple sclerosis--seemed to drive him harder in crusading for social justice. His sharp criticism of what he saw as shortcomings in the civil rights movement and the federal war on poverty make this book timely. Photos.

This is an important account of a "complex and idiosyncratic" urban populist who insisted that power was the keystone of social change. Horwitt expands on the work done by P. David Finks in The Radical Vision of Saul Alinsky ( LJ 7/84) to produce a comprehensive appraisal of Alinksy's "colorful confrontational tactics" as a community organizer and his influence on a "succeeding generation of social activists." Streetwise yet reflective, Alinsky was a true believer in the possibility of American democracy as a means of attaining social justice "for ordinary people." Horwitt has done an especially good job discussing Alinsky's youth and personal life. An insightful and well-written study, recommended for all academic and larger public libraries.

Quite an adventure with this Wolfpack

Wow, this werewolf story has a much different type of twists then I have ever read before. Dominic is a typical dominant alpha wolf, but all the rules in their werewolf society is much different then I have read before. Makes for an interesting twists.
Mia put a mobster away, but they are still after her. She is in the witness protection program. Then she meets the Big Bad Wolf, AKA Dominic and boy does her life begin an adventure.
This story has some major steamy scenes, plus so much action. Dominic and Mia have so much chemistry and their interactions are entertaining and funny, plus so hot. It makes for an enjoyable read. You definitely want to keep reading the serial to find out if she ever gets out from under the mob's thumb.

Alpha Wolf's Pet is a CAPTIVATING AND INTRIGUING STORY THAT GROWS AND TWIST'S WITH EACH BOOK !!! From the first book you become immersed and mesh with the characters DOM & MIA and you just can't stop reading till you finished the last page on book three.
As soon as I finished this series I had to buy SLADE in the next series !!!'

Wolves & Witnesses! Oh My

The Alpha Wolf's Pet trilogy follows the fledgling relationship between dominant, alpha, werewolf Enforcer Dominic and human lover Mia.

Mia is in witness protection, as she is providing evidence to bring down a Russian mob known as 'Chess'. She's been in witsec a while but is quite useless at keeping to the terms of it and keeps putting herself back in danger. In her latest move, she is relocated, with her new identity (Mia), to a boho cottage on the edge of a private estate and warned in no uncertain terms to keep herself to herself. No more breaking the rules.

Dominic is the owner of said private estate. He's well built, handsome and is instantly attracted to his new neighbour Mia, but he knows she's lying. As the local packs alpha and a well know enforcer to the hierarch Dominic has to make a difficult choice, take her as his pet and risk whatever she is hiding affecting his pack, or walk away.

He takes the risk and finds out the truth and declares he and his pack will support Mia in eliminating the threat to her life and keep her safe while they do so. But of course things aren't that straightforward. Between them, their enemies are plenty and in a twist I didn't see coming, some of their enemies are also in cahoots.

Packs fight, lives are lost and there are revelations galore. This relationship is never easy for Dom & Mia. Everything around them is crumbling and at times causes them to question their relationship. There are rules regarding human relations and Dom has a predestined mate. It's one thing after another, but like a true alpha, he knows what he wants and he is willing to do battle for it. Taking down every wall that's put in his way. All whilst maintaining some vigorous sexy time with his pet Mia.

I did have some issues with this trilogy, there were some language issues, spelling / grammatical issues etc. and sentences not making sense, but it is still very readable and if you can overlook these issues, its a decent story with a lot of thought and detail gone into the plot, the background and the consistency, and an unexpected helping of humour.

The genus Galanthus, commonly known as snowdrops, is a well-known and much-loved group of plants. Among its species are some of the most charming late-winter- and early-spring-flowering bulbs. Native to Europe and the Near East, they are hardy and easy to grow and flower at a time of year when most garden plants are still in the hold of winters rest. In recent years snowdrops have seen a phenomenal revival of interest, the like of which has not been experienced since the turn of the twentieth century.

I loved the layout of this book - very fast reading and great information. I even got my husband to read it and he HATES to read! The pictures are great and the overall feel of the book does not make it seem like your typical instruction manual. I would recommend to everyone!
